Carol Hetherington, LicAc, MAOM, DiplOM Ms. Hetherington is licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Medicine and is board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She is a graduate of and currently an instructor at the New England School of Acupuncture where she earned a Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She completed her clinical training at Pathways To Wellness located in Boston’s South End Community Health Center and at the North Shore Elder Service Care Center in Lynn, Massachusetts. In addition to her foundational training in Chinese, Japanese, Orthopedic and Auricular acupuncture, Carol has completed specialized training with several masters. She has studied Shakuju, a powerful non-insertive acupuncture style, with its founder Master Kobayashi. Additionally, she has studied the Acupuncture Balance Method with Dr. Richard Tan. Carol has also completed training with Acupuncturists Without Borders. This organization is dedicated to helping provide compassionate relief to those who have been affected by natural disasters and other forms of traumatic stress including survivors, veterans, first responders and other care providers. Finally, in addition to practicing acupuncture and herbal medicine, Carol has been a certified Reiki practitioner under Reiki Master Penelope Jewell since 1998. Carol was raised in Rhode Island and currently lives in Southern Massachusetts. Prior to becoming an acupuncturist she received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois. She was a competitive varsity athlete throughout her college years and has a special interest in the unique health care needs of athletes. Before embarking on her training in holistic medicine, she also worked as a certified veterinary technician for ten years and has an enduring love of animals to this day. In addition to treating people, Carol offers acupuncture for animals at Sterling Impression Animal Rehabilitation Center of New England in Walpole, and at Destination Dog in Franklin.
